Sciatica Treatment in Federal Way, WA
Find the cause. Treat the problem. Get moving again
Why the Cause Matters
Not All Sciatica Has the Same Cause
Sciatic pain describes a pattern of symptoms, but it does not identify the underlying problem by itself. Similar symptoms may develop from a disc bulge or herniation, degenerative changes around a spinal nerve, or other conditions affecting the lower back and surrounding structures.
That is why care at Pacific Northwest Chiro begins with an examination rather than a predetermined treatment plan. Your symptoms, neurological and orthopedic findings, movement, and spinal function are evaluated to help determine what may be contributing to your condition.
When clinically appropriate, digital X-rays may also be used to evaluate the lumbar spine. If your findings suggest that additional imaging or medical evaluation is needed, you may be referred for appropriate follow-up.
Most cases of sciatic pain are not medical emergencies. However, certain symptoms may require prompt medical evaluation rather than routine chiropractic care.
Seek immediate medical attention for symptoms such as new loss of bowel or bladder control, numbness in the groin or saddle area, or severe or rapidly worsening weakness in the leg. Significant symptoms following major trauma or symptoms accompanied by other concerning systemic signs may also require additional medical evaluation.
If examination findings at Pacific Northwest Chiro suggest that your condition requires additional imaging, medical evaluation, or care outside our office, an appropriate referral will be recommended.
Located in Federal Way, Pacific Northwest Chiro provides individualized care for patients experiencing sciatica and radiating leg pain from Kent, Des Moines, Redondo, SeaTac, and surrounding South King County communities.
